Xiamen University Zhangzhou Campus
Located in the Zhangzhou China Merchants Economic and Technological Development Zone, Xiamen University’s Zhangzhou Campus is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea to the east, offering a picturesque setting opposite the Siming Campus across the water. Construction of the campus began on April 6, 2001, and it has been in use since September 2003. The campus covers an area of 2568 mu (approximately 1.71 square kilometers).
The Zhangzhou Campus boasts comprehensive teaching, research facilities, and public services, serving as a crucial part of Xiamen University's pursuit of becoming a world-class university. It is a significant achievement of strategic collaboration between the university and local authorities. The primary functions of the campus include being a hub for high-level international cooperation and exchange, a center for cultivating high-caliber applied talents, a site for high-quality research outcomes and industrialization, a gathering place for top talents, and a key base for supporting regional economic and social development.
Currently, the Zhangzhou Campus hosts five key teaching and research units: the College of Creativity and Innovation, the International College, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Gulei Petrochemical Research Institute, and Tan Kah Kee College. The campus is home to over 21,000 students and nearly 2,000 faculty and staff, covering both undergraduate and graduate education.
Facing the new era, the Zhangzhou Campus adheres to the guiding principles outlined in President Xi Jinping’s important congratulatory letter, emphasizing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. The campus enhances innovation-driven development, deepens integrated growth, and strives to build a “cooperation highland,” thereby comprehensively enhancing its capacity to serve regional development and national strategies.
